# Licensing

PhonePe for WHMCS offers two license models that provide full gateway functionality:

* **Leased:** Active subscription including continuous software updates.
* **Lifetime:** Perpetual license for the installed build with optional Support & Updates renewals.

## The two license types

| Type | What you get | Updates |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Leased** | Works while the license is active. | Updates included for as long as it stays active. |
| **Lifetime** | Perpetual use of the installed version — you own it forever. | Newer versions need an active **Support & Updates** plan. |

## The license-gated feature

The license directly controls **payment processing**:

* **Active license:** Customers select PhonePe and complete invoice payments normally.

* **Inactive license:** PhonePe payment processing is suspended until a valid key is configured.

* **Outage tolerance:** Local background validation tolerates brief licensing-server outages without disrupting checkouts in progress.

* **Isolated scope:** An inactive license only affects PhonePe processing; other WHMCS gateways and billing features remain functional.

* **Restoration:** Renewing your license or entering a valid key immediately restores PhonePe payment processing.

::: info Keep the license active
Because the license gates payments, an inactive license means customers can't pay you through
PhonePe. Renew before a Leased term ends, and keep your key current.

## Where to enter and manage your key

Your license key lives in the gateway configuration, not in a separate addon panel. Go to
**Setup → Payment Gateways → PhonePe** and enter your key in the **License Key** field, then
**Save Changes**.

* **Exact entry:** Paste the key exactly as shown in your relyweb.co client area without extra whitespace.
* **Activation:** Click **Save Changes** to validate the key and enable payment processing.
* **Validation check:** Invalid or missing keys keep PhonePe processing disabled until resolved.
